Hot Tapping is the method of making a branch connection on existing pipelines or vessels or any other process equipment while the existing system is under pressure. Hot Tapping is the ideal solution for plant modifications and expansion projects where tie-ins to existing lines can be made safely without line isolation or unit shutdown.
• This method employs a Hot Tapping Machine, a full bore valve and either a nozzle or a full encirclement fitting (Split Tee) welded or bolted to the existing pressurized system.
• The Hot Tapping machine, generally consists of a telescopic bore bar mechanically driven by a specially designed gear box which advances the cutting tool.
• Cooperheat can Hot tap from ½” to 84” sizes; from vacuum to 1480 psi pressure and up to 700 deg. F temperatures, pressure ratings are from ANSI 150# through to 900#. We also carry specialized equipment for Higher Pressure (up to 5,000 psi) equipment for Hot Tapping on Wellheads.
• Cooperheat Tank Tapping (drilling) services are able to drill through all major tank walls with reinforcement bars in place and under pressure which allows for a new line to branch from the digester/reservoir with a valve in place for flow control, We can drill through a concrete wall from 200 MM to 1500 MM, with option to Manufacture cutting any required nominal bore sizes.
